Updated: Apr 7, 2023

Yogurt, a probiotic food, is the most healthful form of all dairy products. It's called "probiotic," a Greek term meaning "pro-life ."Every yogurt contains millions of organisms, lactic acid bacteria. Its soft semi-solid texture suits both young and old who can't tolerate solid foods.

Most people prefer yogurt with added sweetness and fruits. It is very nutritious to add to your meal or as a snack. You can add some fruit and honey to yogurt to make it delicious. I'd suggest adding one of these fruits: apple, mango, banana, strawberry, raisins, blueberry, and raspberry.

Why Is Yogurt Important?

It Helps Prevent Gastrointestinal Infections

Yogurt with live active bacteria is beneficial for people with diarrhea. It increases the body's resistance to digestive tract infections such as salmonella, gastroenteritis, or infectious colitis.

High Nutritional Value

The nutritional content of yogurt is very similar to that of milk. In addition to protein and calcium, yogurt also provides a variety of vitamins and minerals. Regarding nutrient absorption, yogurt is preferable to milk due to the fermentation effect of lactic acid bacteria. Hence, the higher absorption of nutrients in the blood compared to milk. However, parents shouldn't introduce yogurt to infants under six months of age as a substitute for breast milk.

Cancer Prevention

You might be surprised that yogurt is good for cancer prevention, particularly breast and colorectal cancer. Numerous studies have shown that yogurt prevents mutations in cancer-causing cells and counteracts the carcinogenic effects of certain substances, such as nitrosamines, in cured meats.

Natural Skin Care Product

In beauty and cosmetics, many experts recommend yogurt as good for the skin. When applied to the skin, it provides moisture, helps to lighten pigmentation, and reduces wrinkles and fine lines.

There is a lot of benefits yogurt can do to our bodies. I've only listed four beneficial effects of yogurt because these have been proven helpful by numerous studies. The yogurt's nutrients are good for malnutrition, infancy, pregnancy, and old age.

quickly at room temperature. Yogurt must be stored in a closed container and not refrigerated for over three weeks. Always check the expiry label. Once opened, you should consume it within 24 hours.
